Company Profile

Hersh Development Company was formed in 2003 by George Hersh, Brian Hersh, and John Hersh.  Its primary focus until now was on the development and construction of 236 units of affordable and market rate apartments and a 78 unit senior housing development in north Topeka.  Woodland Park at Soldier Creek, the apartment project, is scheduled to be completed in June of ’09.  The senior housing development is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of ‘09.

The company has also designed, developed and constructed for Northland Shopping Center, another Hersh Company, a car wash and oil/lube operation on North Topeka Blvd under the name of Boomerang Lube and Carwash. 

Hersh Development has taken these concepts and expanded their operations into other locals.  It will focus on development of affordable senior housing, a market rate “campus” concept for seniors consisting of cottages, independent living facilities, and assisted living facilities, and the carwash/ oil change/lube operation.

Hersh Development has also established relationships with investment groups interested in the purchase, rehabilitation and operation of existing multi-family projects.

The Hersh family owned and operated Postal Savings and Loan for many years before selling their interest to Silver Lake Bank in the early 1990’s.  They have also been involved in the financing, development, construction and ownership/operation of single family and multi-family residential, retail, office, warehouse, and sub-divisions for many years in the Topeka area.

Currently Hersh Development is in the planning process of expanding these concepts and operations into other localities. The focus will be on development of affordable senior housing and a market-rate “campus” concept for seniors consisting of cottages, independent living facilities and assisted living facilities.  Hersh Construction, a sister company of Hersh Development, will be providing the construction services for these projects.
